Beyond the Stitch: A Regional Fiber Art Invitational curated by Joanie San Chirico of Toms River, NJ, will be presented at the Ocean County Artists' Guild, Ocean and Chestnut Avenues, Island Heights, NJ from February 29, 2004 through March 23, 2004. A reception will be held on Sunday, February 29, 2004 from 1-4pm.

Those participating are award winning artists representing many fields of fiber art, such as basketmaking, sculpture, art quilts, mixed media, wearables, and other alternative materials. There will be 16 artists exhibiting at the Ocean County Artists' Guild, which is located in a beautiful restored Victorian house in the bayside community of Island Heights, which is near Toms River, also part of Dover Township, NJ. These prominent artists have published books, won large awards and grants, teach at the University level and have shown their art in galleries and museums all over the world. Some have work in permanent collections both private and corporate and museums such as The Museum of Modern Art, The American Folk Art Museum, and the Museum of Arts & Design. They live and work in New Jersey, the Philadelphia area and Metropolitan New York City.
