P'S LEADING TO QUILTS

I'm accused of Procrastination
And it well be true,
But I may not rank my Priorities
Quite the same as you.
There are so many Possibilities
That I don't always see
Which has the most Pertinence
And which I should let be.
I try to be Persistent
In completing what I Plan
And find myself quite Penitent
When there seems no way I can.
But when I Persevere
And finish what I start
I look at it with Pride
And triumph in my heart.

TEMPTATION

This fabric cries, Buy me!
That one echoes, Me too!
There I stand being tempted.
What's a fabric lover to do?
I fondle the print with the roses,
I sigh over paisley and plaid,
Then I see the Perfect Fabric --
Leaving that one would just be too bad!
Soon all of my good intentions break down,
I'm grabbing bolts left and right!
"I'll take two yards of this, five yards of that" --
Giving in with no trace of a fight.
But they look so much nicer at home on my shelves
Than they ever did in the store,
And when they've lost their freshness
I'll just have to go out and buy more!

FOOT NOTE

This foot was made for walking.
But not on my machine!
It turns out the weirdest quilting
That I have ever seen!
It sews along quite nicely,
I stop holding my breath,
Then it does a little dance step
And scares me half to death!
I see a section of stitches
Too small for ripping out,
Then a leap and then a skip --
What is this all about?
A seam on top? The batting?
Am I doing something wrong?
I didn't dream that machine quilting
Would ever take this long.
The answer's out there somewhere,
I'll seek till I understand,
But until I get it sorted out
I just must quilt by hand!

LET'S TALK!

Many things are discussed on our list,
And quilting is only one.
With friends we've made we want to talk
About everything under the sun.
So it's not just our quilts we write about
But the rest of our world as well --
Our families, big things that happen,
Little things that are fun to tell.
Here's a place to let off a little steam
About things that have not gone right,
To celebrate our triumphs,
To sympathize with another's plight.
Oh sure -- the quilt topics are important --
Information and explanations abound,
But it's the feeling of belonging and friendship
That keeps us all coming round.
