Last night I spent hours in my studio, sorting fabrics.
Sorta my way of celebrating New Year's—organizing my "stuff" and straightening
up my sewing messes. Consequently, it was just last night and with clear
thoughts and a sober mind that I came to the following conclusions:
No more cat stuff, if that's a clue.
I told myself no more hand dyes and no more blues!
Definitely no more plaids, no more florals or funky little ewes.
No more cows, no more chickens nor Christmas for me.
No more vintage my Aunt nor reproductions.
No more Orientals, black and whites, and no more stripes.
No more polka-dots! No juvenile for a long, long while.
No more landscapes, no more skies or birds.
Same for no more nauticals, my oh my!
No more western, horses, boots and roping cowboys, cowgirls or Indian theme.
No more white-on-white, beige-on-beige, or tone-on-tone, if you know what I mean.
My shelves overfloweth and that's a fact.
No more bugs, butterflies, fairies or frogs to dye for.
Don’t forget people prints, cheaters, or teddy bears.
No more patriotic R/W/B though it may be my favorite.
Well, maybe room for just one or two.
No more red and white; or reds, limes and greens.
Ditto for geometrical designs, trees and leaves.
No more yellows, rusts and smiley faces.
No more of anything that spins my color palette.
No more, no more, no more, do I say!
But HA! I convinced myself—no more, no way.
And no more room.
Now the year is 2003, please hear my plea.
Alas, who am I fooling? You? Or Me?
