Review: By Dori Hawks
In the sequel to her best seller, “Stack the Deck,” Karla Alexandra in “Stack a New Deck” begins with a general explanation of how she stacks, then cuts, and shuffles the pieces in preparing to sew them into blocks. It is a fun and quick way to end up with a very interesting quilt and not following the “rules” of quiltmaking.
To make it even easier she has “fabric tips” and a “shuffling guide” for each quilt and “ace it!” tips throughout the instructions. There are no templates, no little circles or triangles to cut and piece perfectly, therefore it is easy!
The quilt projects in the book are interesting and even include curves, which make some of the designs even more interesting. So, grab your stacks of fabrics and do the four Ss: “Stack, Slice, Shuffle, & Sew.”
Add this book to your personal or guild library. Look for this book at your favorite quilt shop!
