Description: This is an easy block to piece. Try using a
focus fabric or conversational print in the center square.
This would be a fast and fun block for a baby quilt with a
juvenile print in the center. Another variation is to make
each outside square a different fabric.

Assembly (1/4" seam allowance throughout):
| Step 1: Sew a piece A to each side of
a piece B making four Flying Geese rectangles. Press each seam
open after sewing. You may press towards the dark fabric which
here is the purple (B)
|
|
| Step 2: Sew a piece C to each end of two
of the Flying Geese rectangles. Press the seams open or towards
the square (C). These are Rows 1 and 3
|
|
| Step 3: Sew the remaining 2 Flying Geese
rectangles to either side of piece D with the points of the Flying
Geese pointing out. Press seams open or toward the center square (D).
This is Row 2.
|
|
| Step 4: Sew a Row 1 and 3 to each side of
Row 2 with the Flying Geese rectangles pointing out. If you have
pressed your seams (in Steps 2 and 3) going in one direction you
will have the seams nicely butting up against each other for
easier sewing. Press these seams open or toward the outside.
