I make art quilts that are portraits. Exaggerations and distortions reveal complex emotions and motivations. A secondary stitched portrait appears. Unexpected relationships of lines and shapes produce unplanned complexity, creating additional levels of interest. These double portraits symbolize lives not lived, careers not followed, lovers not married, children not born. Ambiguity, mystery, and a sense of having a life of its own are goals for work in the Big Head Series.
