Alice Kish began quilting in the early 70's when the world was full of double knits in lime green and nuclear orange. Her quest for fabric and information was fairly futile as quilt shops did not exist, and the only book at the library was Ruby McKim's 101 Patchwork Patterns circa 1930something. Thirty years later fabric is easy to find, even the antique reproduction 1880's type that she loves for making old looking scrap quilts. Through the years, Alice has been a quilt shop teacher, buyer for a quilt shop, and co-author of a book and quilt show chairperson and president of her quilt guild. She now owns enough fabric to open her own store and is unable to part with any of it even the early 1970's unusable calicoes. There may be hope because her children are grown and she and her husband have an empty nest leading to more time to QUILT!
