Exhibit: April 4 - May 1, 2004
Opening Reception: April 4,3-5pm
Rockville Arts Place is pleased to announce a new exhibit
featuring the Tuesday Quilters; a group of eleven quilt artists. The exhibit explores
how scale affects design. Each artist exhibits at least two works on different scales,
allowing the members the freedom to work in their own direction, but on a common
theme. Included in the exhibition are both pictorial and abstract interpretations of
the theme. The Tuesday Morning Quilters include Jennifer Danly, Floris Flam, Ann
Hoenigswald, Melanie Grishman, Lauren Kingsland, Verena Levine, Susanne McCoy,
Donna Radner, Kathryn Vitek, and Janet Wildman.
About the Tuesday Quilters:
Its members, juried into the group, are professional quilters and teachers whose
purpose is to support and challenge each other's creative efforts and to exhibit
together. Their individual styles and quilting techniques vary widely, including
original abstract design, collage, landscape, pictorial themes, and, occasionally,
unique presentations of traditional designs. Craftsmanship, techniques, workmanship,
and overall appearance is of the highest quality, reflecting the expertise and
training as artists and teachers. The group periodically produces group projects,
which include contributions by each member to a single piece of work or individual
quilts, which represent a common theme or topic, suggest by one of the members.
