I first met Rosemary through a primitive group that I joined on the internet. Then last fall I got to meet her in person at the Houston Quilt Market & Festival. I fell in love with her booth there, and she invited Mom and I to come visit her shop. Well, I felt I had just died and gone to heaven. Primitive lovers all over the country would feel the same after walking through her front door.

Rosemary decided to focus her shop on primitives and reproduction fabrics. She also carries a nice selection of hand dyed wools and wool supplies   Turkey Ridge is just starting to offer a selection of classes. Currently there is a wonderful rughooking teacher that gives classes for beginners and advanced hookers. There is also a teacher that will start giving mini quilt workshops this year.

She tells me that she's always loved old-fashioned things, for as long as she can remember. Her Mom made all her school clothes, and she always picked the little old fashioned dresses to wear. Her Mom taught her to sew in the fifth grade and she's been sewing ever since.

Mainly a Moda Fabrics shop, she also has some whimsicals, and Aunt Grace fabrics.   With her wonderful selection of fabrics, you can count on her to make a kit that would be perfect for Primitive Pieces by Lynda patterns which she carries in her shop.

In the late 70's or early 80's, Country Living magazine came out, and she discovered the primitive look. And of course fell in love! Soon after that, she found some rag doll patterns and started making rag dolls to sell. She also enjoys doing embroidery work, so imagine her delight when she discovered vintage samplers!! She has sold her dolls and stitchery for years in shows, like the famous Roundtop show in Roundtop, Texas. (She even met Mary Emmerling at one show, and Mary asked her to design two samplers for her magazine!)

She always yearned for a shop of her own, and in August of 2002, she got her chance. Her husband and his partner decided to open up a Mustang restoration business. Once those guys got settled in the garage, she opened up Turkey Ridge Primitives in the house. Then they decided to find another house to live in.

People are always surprised to see a "pink room" filled with shabby chic, Robyn Pandolph type fabrics.   Turkey Ridge Primitives is a girl gang shop, but so far only offers the patterns online.

She carries a lot of primitive patterns with stitchery, dolls and wool projects, and of course patterns by Primitive Pieces by Lynda, which she will be glad to kit and ship to anyone who would like her to do that. Give her a call at 281 440-0775 The fabrics I've seen in her shop are just what I use for the quilts I make for my pattern line.

Rosemary makes the most wonderful dolls at Turkey Ridge. I had her ship a couple home for me while I was in Houston last fall. If you are ever in the area make this a "MUST SEE SHOP" I guarantee you won't ever forget it!

You can find Turkey Ridge Primitives located on the outskirts of Houston at 17218 Bamwood, Houston, Texas 77090. Her shop hours are from 10-3pm, Tuesday through Saturday.
