This fantastic store opened in 2000 in a 2500 square feet area in Mandarin, Florida, which is just outside Jacksonville. It originally began as a primitive-home decor-gift shop. In the fall of 2002, Gloria began the second phase of her life long dream - she added fabric!! (Knowing my passion for antiques and collectibles, the gals in Orlando said, you've got to get to the Olde Green Cupboard in Jacksonville. That's about all the encouragement I needed, so a day trip was planned. Sorry, I got waylaid there!)

Since then she has moved to a 10,000 square foot location (not far from the original store location) where there is now between 2500 - 3000 bolts of fabric. The shop specializes in the country cottage and vintage look, along with homespuns, brushed cottons, twills, wool, wool felt and reproduction fabrics. There are 3 primitive cutting counters...one is 14 feet long!

Tons of samples hang throughout the store, classroom and quilting department. They also have a long-arm machine and are proud of their 2-3 week turn around time in completing quilts. They have a total of 6 girls in the shop that can quilt on the long-arm...averaging 3-4 quilts each day. I'm told a third phase of the shop will come later....which is to add a counted cross stitch department where they will specialize in primitive stitchery and samplers.

If you are interested in retreats, these are the girls to call! They will work with your group to give you fun, interesting and great retreats. Their recent one was in St. Augustine where they sewed, shopped in the old district, went on a fun ghost tour of Old St. Augustine, had a scavenger hunt, and tons of fun!

When you walk up to the exterior of the Olde Green Cupboard, you have just no idea of what's inside or how large it really is.

There are quilts hanging everywhere in the fabric part of the shop. Gloria surprised all the gals that work there with a quilt she made for each of them for Christmas. Here are a few that she made from my patterns. On the left is Jeepers Creepers (made with Seeds of Time Fabrics from Moda), Ring Around the Posies, and The Old Nag on the right. I wish I could have seen their faces when they received such a wonderful gift!

You can find every book, pattern, bundle of fabric you would ever want. You could spend an entire day looking through them all.....and I have!

When you first walk in the door, no matter what the season, you will be warmly greeted by wonderful displays. Talk about being a kid in a candy store? Well this certainly is an adult version of that! You will find antiques and collectibles, gift items and so much more! My favorites would be the primitives that are everywhere! Those fun old-fashioned dolls, items that look worn out and fun! Well, there is just something for everyone. There are quilted wearables, tote bags, and backpacks too!

There is a special department within the store that specializes in dried flowers. The arrangements are made right there in the shop. You can see them all over the store....what a delight!

The classroom here at the Olde Green Cupboard is huge! Perhaps when you visit our sunshine state you can go have some fun with them. Baskets are also on the class schedule at the Olde Green Cupboard. Check their website to see the wide variety of classes offered. It's quite an extensive list. Golly, there is always something going on!

And a very special thank you to Gloria for inviting me, along with all my quilts, to be part of their special grand opening when they moved to their new location. I had a wonderful time that day. Everyone made me feel very welcomed! What a wonderful place to visit. Please let me introduce you to the staff of "The Olde Green Cupboard" From left to right, back row: Vicky Lannucci (Gloria's twin sister), Kathy Breidenstein, Judy Hudson, Lynn Rogers, Donna Phillips (my sister-in-law) and Carolyn Allen. Front row, left to right: Carol Whitchurch, Heather Lynn (Gloria's daughter), me (Lynda Hall), Marty Norris, and Gloria Parsons, owner!

And a special note: Gloria's husband, Jack, made all the wonderful wooden racks that all the fabrics are displayed on! What a wonderful job! He took this picture of all of us so you can't see him, but I did want you to know how wonderfully supportive he is of all that Gloria does.

I really hope that when you are visiting our sunshine state of Florida that you will make a special effort to visit with the girls! Gloria and her staff are wonderful! You see, they love what they do and what we all love!
