The quilt celebrates spring and the glorious magenta buds of the southern
Redbud tree, which bursts forth in early spring against a backdrop of light
chartreuse new leaves and dark evergreen trees. The symbols used include
Japanese kanji for "spring" and "flower," the Hebrew letter chai for "life,"
and the African adinkra symbol for "hope."
