- Make one(1) copy of letter X. It has two sections.
You will piece each section separately and then sew the two sections together.
- Remember that the printed pattern is a mirror image of the design.
You will be placing your fabric on the unprinted side and sewing on the
printed side of the letter pattern.

- Main Fabric:
- Cut a strip 3” x 20”
- Cut into four strips 5” long for 2M, 3M, 9M and 10M
- Background Fabric:
- Cut two squares 4” x 4” for 1B and 8B
- Cut four squares 3 ½” x 3 ½” for 4B, 5B, 11B, 12B
- Cut two Squares 2” x 2” Then cut in half diagonally for 6B, 7B, 13B, 14B
Section One:
- Piece in numerical order. Place 1B face down on side of the
paper without lines by placing a small amount of glue stick in the
center to hold it while you place the second piece.
- Add piece number 2M and then number 3M.
- Continue adding 4B, and 5B, pressing between each step.
- Then add 6B and 7B pressing between additions.
- Press well and trim excess fabric and paper to ¼" around
the finished size of the letter section.
Section Two:
- Piece in numerical order. Place 8B face up on side
of the paper without lines by placing a small amount of glue stick in
the center to hold it while you place the second piece.
- Add piece number 9M and then number 10M.
- Continue adding 11B and 12B. Press between each step.
- Then add 13B, and 14B. Press between additions.
- Press well and trim excess fabric and paper to ¼" around
the finished size of the letter section.
Add Section One to Section Two, matching seam lines. Rip paper off on seam
allowance between sections and then press this seam open. I usually finger
press this seam and then lay it paper side down on the ironing board and press
from the fabric side of the letter block.
