An Aura of Enchantment

Another theft has occured while a quilt was being shipped through the US Postal Service. On August 29, 2003 Carol Shoaf mailed her original quilt, An Aura of Enchantment, from the Richland, Washington Post Office. Someone cut open the box, took out the quilt, put in a book and taped the box closed. A police report has been filed regarding this theft.

This quilt is 41-3/4" by 29-3/4". It features a Koi type fish in the center of seaweed and rocks on a shibori, hand-dyed fabric background. The fish is deep purples, reds and oranges. The background is soft green, blue and yellow. It is machine appliqued and machine quilted. The fish's body is heavily free motion, machine embroidered and the fins have an airy quality to the free motion embroidery. The binding is a heavily stitched free motion satin stitch about 3/8" wide. The label on the back includes Carol's name, address, and phone number. It is stitched with a running stitch to the lower left hand corner on the back side of the quilt.

If you have any information about this quilt, please contact Carol through the Lost Quilt Come Home Page.
