Description: This is an easy applique quilt to do. There
are not very many pieces and it would be easy to do by hand
or machine. Have fun using fabrics with a western theme. What
child who loves Cowboys wouldn't want this quilt!
Finished Block Size: 10"
Finished Quilt Size: 55 1/2" x 67"

Fabric Requirements For Block:
I am not going to suggest fabric shades here. If you are using a light background then all the
other fabrics will look better dark and medium dark. The choices are yours.
- Boots: About a 10" x 10" piece for each boot. A 12" x 12" piece
for the 8 pull-up strips. A 12" x 12" piece for 8 heels. There are
8 Boot Blocks.
- Hats: About an 8" x 10" piece for each hat. There are 4 Hat Blocks.
- Cactus: About a 10" x 10" piece for each cactus. There are 4 Cactus Blocks.
- Star: About a 10" x 10" piece for each star and a 15" x 15" piece
for the circles. There are 4 Star Blocks with 5 Circles each.
- Background: There are 20 blocks and you need at least a
10 ½" x 10 ½" piece for each block. I would cut them 11", do my applique,
and then cut the blocks to 10 ½" (Unfinished size) If using all the same
background buy 1 ¾ yards
- Sashing and first border: 1 ¼ yards
- Second Border: 1 ½ yards

*Remember: You don't need seam allowances of you are fusing the applique pieces.

Sashing: Cut fifteen 2" x 10 ½"

by the width of the fabric for the rest of the sashing and first border.

Heels to the background square first and then the Boots and
the Pull-up Strips

| Step 2: Cactus: Appliqué the
Cactus to the background square

| Step 3: Hats: Appliqué the Hats
to the background square

| Step 4: Sheriff Stars:
Appliqué the Stars to the background square first and then
the Circles over each point.

| Step 5: Trim the blocks to 10 ½" x 10 ½"
|
| Step 6: Row 1 Piecing: Boot,
Sashing Strip, Hat, Sashing Strip, Star, Sashing Strip, Boot
|
| Step 7: Row 2 Piecing: Hat,
Sashing Strip, Cactus, Sashing Strip, Cactus, Sashing Strip, Star
|
| Step 8: Row 3 Piecing: Boot,
Sashing Strip, Boot, Sashing Strip, Boot, Sashing Strip, Boot
|
| Step 9: Row 4 Piecing: Star,
Sashing Strip, Cactus, Sashing Strip, Cactus, Sashing Strip, Hat

| Step 10: Row 5 Piecing: Boot,

| Step 11: Cut six long 2" sashing
strips the length of the Rows. Sew Rows together with long sashing
strips in-between rows and on the top and bottom of the quilt.

| Step 12: Cut two First Border
strips 2" x the length of the quilt. Sew 2" Borders to each
side of the quilt.
|
| Step 13: Cut two Second Border
strips 4 ½" wide by the width of the quilt. Sew them to the
top and the bottom of the quilt.
|
Step 14: Cut two 4 ½" wide
Second Border strips the length of the quilt. Sew to each side
of the quilt top.
