36" x 68"

Hand-dyed and painted silk, satin and cotton fabrics; machine stitched (after fusing) and machine quilted.

Inspiration for the patterns used in Cell-U-Lite came from photographs of cell structures and fabric wastage from other quilt projects. The title came from my constant battle against cellulite. I have never approached quiltmaking as a quilter; instead I concentrate on the concept, color, and design of a piece rather than the traditional techniques of assemblage. Producing quilts is a natural outlet for exploiting the possibilities of cloth and for providing a dialogue with the viewer.
