On a rainy, cold and dismal December day we were
delighted to be welcomed to the warmth and hospitality at Quilted Hearts, Ltd.
Located about 30 minutes North of Atlanta, Georgia at the northern tip of
beautiful Lake Lanier and just 15 minutes from Interstate 85, this little
shop is well worth a stop if you are in the area or traveling through Georgia.
Sally Babcock has owned the shop for 12 years and she has a staff of 12 friendly
and helpful gals. Sally's customers tell her that her staff is always having
fun at work.
Quilted Hearts has a decided traditional and country
primitive specialty. Homespun plaids, Moda brushed flannels, Thimbleberries
are in abundance. In addition, there is a large novelty section, many batiks
and gorgeous color runs in hundreds of prints.
All current patterns, notions, and gadgets are plentiful,
along with some unusual buttons, gift items for quilting friends and wonderful
rug hooking and knitting departments. The rug hooking section has yummy
selections of wools, tools and patterns and there is a group of gals who meet
at the shop every Tuesday called the "Happy Hookers" The knitting section is
fairly new to the shop but has been hugely successful and will likely be enlarged
in the near future. Sally has brought in some of the most gorgeous threads
imaginable along with all the current books and needles. Wonderful hand dyed
yarns, ribbon for knitting and some scrumptious colors for knitting socks,
which is all the rage. Knitting has come out of the closet and is huge again.
Hurray!
Quilted Hearts has a roomy classroom for the numerous
classes offered on a quarterly basis and hosts several quilting clubs. The
room is made available on Mondays for "Sew What" for customers to just come
and sew all day and share ideas with others.
Stop by some day, it is a delightful shop.
