Quilters Of South Carolina 2003 Award Winner:
*Excellence in Machine Quilting (From Viking Says Sew & Quilt Greenville, SC)
*First Place Pieced Quilts

The Quilters of South Carolina hold an annual retreat. Diana won a door prize contributed by Bernatex Corporation consisting of fat quarters of the entire Berry Patch collection designed by Nancy Halvorson. Although these fabrics were not ones she normally uses, she was determined to preserve the character and personality of the collection. The border prints included in the collection have images of ladies sitting in the garden enjoying the berries.

The traditional log cabin blocks were constructed in a spiral design with the addition of black logs. An irregular placement of blocks, with inserted spacer bars, was used to create the complex mazes in each color family. Notice that the ladies sitting in the garden cannot leave, no matter how many paths they try to take.

Original design, machine pieced and quilted.
